Massachusetts has seen a surge in illegal immigrants arrested for sex crimes in recent months, as the state and the city of Boston pledge to resist President-elect Donald Trump's mass deportation plan.
Since August, ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) officials have arrested 26 undocumented immigrants in the Boston area on suspicion of sex crimes against children, ranging from child rape to sexual assault to distribution of child pornography.
Many of these immigrants were previously deported from the United States but later entered the country illegally.
As recently as December 3, ICE removed Adrian Patricio Huerta-Nivero, a 25-year-old undocumented immigrant, after it was discovered that he was wanted in his native Ecuador for the rape of a minor.

Nivero's firing came just a day after the Boston City Council unanimously voted to reaffirm a 2019 measure that limited the Boston Police Department's ability to cooperate with ICE in deporting illegal immigrants. The measure, aimed at protecting immigrant communities from “unreasonable enforcement actions,” limits Boston police's ability to cooperate with ICE and allows police to remove immigrants for possible deportation without a criminal warrant. It prohibits detention.
Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey also vowed that state police would “absolutely not support” President Trump's mass deportation campaign.
Nevertheless, Governor Healey's spokesperson denied that Massachusetts is a “sanctuary state,” saying, “As a former prosecutor and attorney general, the governor believes violent criminals should be deported. '' he told FOX News Digital.
Boston authorities have remained largely silent about the series of sex crimes against city residents. Democratic Mayor Michelle Wu and the Boston City Council did not respond to Fox News Digital's requests for comment.
