Max streaming service is latest to hike prices — here’s how much it will cost you

Warner Bros. Discovery on Tuesday increased the price of ad-free subscriptions to its Max streaming service.

The change will take effect immediately for new subscribers and will see the monthly ad-free plan increase by $1 to $16.99 per month.

The price of the annual ad-free plan will also increase by $20 to $169.99 per year.

The price of Max’s ultimate ad-free tier, which includes features like the ability to run four simultaneous streams and 4K streaming options, will increase by $1 per month to $20.99.

Current monthly plan subscribers will be notified of the price change 30 days before their plan renews and the change will take effect after their July billing cycle, while annual plan subscribers will not see the change until their renewal date.

The price of the ad-included Max plan remains unchanged at $9.99 per month.

Warner Bros. Discovery’s move comes as various streaming platforms have increased prices and moved to bundle their services with those of other services.

Last month, Warner Bros. Discovery and Disney Entertainment announced a new bundle that includes Max with Disney+ and Hulu.

The bundle will include ad-supported and ad-free package options and will be available on all three streaming platforms’ websites. The companies said more details about the new bundle, including pricing, will be announced in the coming months.

Similarly, Comcast announced in late May that its new “StreamSaver” bundle would include Peacock Premium, Apple TV+ and a standard ad-supported Netflix subscription.

If you buy Apple TV+ separately, it will cost you $9.99 per month, while the standard ad-supported Netflix plan will cost you $6.99 per month and Peacock Premium will cost you $5.99 per month.
