Mayor Zohran Mamdani joins Knicks champion in celebration at local parade

New York City Knicks Celebration Disrupted by Arrests and Bus Fire

A spontaneous celebration for the Knicks’ NBA championship win in New York City turned chaotic. Reports indicate that there were multiple arrests, a stabbing incident, and five school buses were set ablaze. In response to the escalating situation, the New York Police Department rolled out riot gear and mounted units.

In a remarkable display of local pride, Zoran Mamdani, the mayor of New York, celebrated the Knicks’ historic victory just a day after they claimed their first NBA title since 1973. He joined the team in a parade through the city.

After arriving back from San Antonio following the championship game, player Jose Alvarado participated in the Puerto Rico Day parade. The mayor was also there to share in the festivities.

It was, perhaps, expected that Alvarado would embrace the party spirit, often spotted celebrating shirtless on a float after their championship win.

In a video from the parade, Alvarado energetically raps along to Jadakiss’ verse from the popular song, “New York,” which has recently become an anthem for Knicks fans. His teammate, Jordan Clarkson, was also seen enjoying the ride on the float.

Alvarado, who has roots in Mexico and Puerto Rico, played a significant role in the Knicks’ championship run, especially in Game 4, where he scored crucial points.

The entire Knicks squad is expected to be part of the victory parade riding on a float. They secured the title with a close 94-90 win against the San Antonio Spurs, coming back twice from over ten points down during the game.
