A new president has been appointed to McNeese State University in southwestern Louisiana.
The University of Louisiana System announced Thursday that Wade Ruth will replace Darryl Berkel, who announced his retirement after seven years in December.

Mr. Rus currently serves as the university’s executive vice president. He has held various positions at the university since 2019, including dean and professor of the School of Business and vice president for university advancement.

The American Press reported that Luz also worked in administration at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff. He was on the faculty at McNeese University, then earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Nicholls State University, a master’s degree in business administration from the University of New Orleans, and his Ph.D. He received his PhD in economics from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
