Bravo is gearing up for a serious legal dispute with former star Leah McSweeney, but they’re hoping to keep things out of the public eye. According to Page 6, Bravo’s legal team is attempting to prevent McSweeney’s lawyers from accessing private documents and compelling the executives to give interviews.
On the flip side, McSweeney’s legal team claims that Bravo is trying to conceal “harmful evidence” from coming to light.
In her court filings, McSweeney accuses Cohen of making inappropriate remarks about her breast surgery. She also mentioned that producers of “The Real Housewives of New York City” and “The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip” pressured her into drinking again despite her struggles with alcohol.
When McSweeney signed onto “The Real Housewives of New York,” her contract stipulated that disputes would be resolved privately, outside of court. However, there’s a law that mandates that sexual harassment allegations must be addressed in court, overriding what the contract specifies. Thus, some claims regarding her surgery are now being examined in court.
Earlier this year, a judge dismissed part of McSweeney’s lawsuit, which led Bravo’s representatives to argue that remaining claims should be settled either privately or in arbitration.
Interestingly, Bravo’s lawyers are vigorously trying to block McSweeney’s team from reviewing private documents and interviewing executives involved.
Gary Adelman, representing McSweeney, remarked that it’s not unexpected for Bravo, Cohen, and the producers to attempt to procrastinate the situation by shifting the case to arbitration.
Adelman conveyed that they’re determined to move the case forward. He believes it’s essential for the truth to be revealed, affirming that the public deserves transparency in this matter.
The Bravo representatives have yet to respond to these allegations.
