Politico recently quoted Biden associates (who requested anonymity) spoke about the possibility that the current administration has moved too far to the left, and that Joe Biden and his staff should acknowledge that “good intentions have gone too far and a sensible approach is needed.”
You can’t blame Biden’s supporters for noticing the obvious about Biden’s failed policies. Our President certainly isn’t rated highly in the polls on his economic policies, skyrocketing crime, pandering to left-wing mobs, and creating dangerously open borders. Biden’s disastrous border policies have left American cities filled with over 10 million illegal immigrants (and counting) and flooding the country with fentanyl and other harmful drugs.
Biden’s decision to move left extended his political career even as he was no longer able to fulfill his duties.
Despite these problems, Biden’s rush to the woke left may be the smartest thing he’s done as president. It’s helped him stay competitive in a presidential election where he’s been outplayed on nearly every measure by more energetic and less crazy opponents. Unlike Trump, Biden can’t draw 100,000 cheering crowds at his rallies, but you can’t blame people for not wanting to hear him mutter a canned speech off a teleprompter before stumbling down the steps of the podium.
And yet, given those disparities, things aren’t going as well as one might expect: Biden actually has a 2 percentage point lead in a race against a rival who is a far more successful president than his aging successor. According to some reliable pollsWhy is this the case? Are Trump’s rudeness and tendency to speak on impulse preventing him from widening his lead?
Why is Biden more likable than his actions justify? He has certainly made nasty remarks about Republicans, white people, and journalists who ask unplanned questions. But his insensitivity and abusive language have done little to diminish his likability or reputation among voters. To protect “democracy.” Now let’s move on to how the mainstream media has portrayed both candidates. Only a die-hard Democrat would not notice that they have portrayed Biden in a much more favorable light than his rival. They have done everything in their power to make Biden look much more likeable than the “Bad Orange Man.”
Joe was never a principled or intelligent politician, but he was a docile party politician who always did what his party wanted, whether it was fraternizing with Southern racists, voting for crime bills that put too many young black men in jail, or scolding Republican judicial candidates for not supporting abortion rights or affirmative action.
In 2020, Biden’s entourage prepared a meticulously planned campaign for him. The Democratic National Committee and its media sycophants portrayed Biden as a promoter of unity and a moderate, while at the same time Biden called for open borders and socially leftist policies. While his appeal for unity during the campaign and in his inaugural address was aimed at independents, Biden’s more radical statements were aimed at the left-wing base of the Democratic Party, which includes all influential groups on the left, including the media, Hollywood, academia, and government.
President Biden has done exactly what these groups wanted: he has respected people of all alphabets and never strayed from the cultural left in policy or rhetoric. This orientation may have hurt the country socially, morally and materially, but it has provided Biden with powerful advocates and huge donors.
While Biden and his weaponized Justice Department, corrupt Democratic judges, and totally subservient District Attorneys have waged the most blatant legal battle imaginable against Trump and his supporters, the traditional media has been dutifully covering for them. The media faithful are defending the administration and discrediting Biden’s opponents. They have also been covering for Joe’s corrupt criminal son, whose nefarious dealings were likely promoted by Biden the Father.
If Biden does appoint unusual and intelligent people to high office, his actions haven’t hurt him politically; they’ve just made him more attractive to his supporters.
Biden’s decision to move left has prolonged his political career, even if it has made him unable to perform his duties. He has not disappointed the left-wing elites who handle his communications and fund his campaign with hundreds of millions of dollars. Some of these wealthy and influential supporters will likely support Biden anyway, given their hatred for Trump and his MAGA base. But Biden’s predictably left-wing politics have arguably made this relationship better.
His repeated insistence on left-wing policies must sound like music to this supporter. And whatever Joe says about raising taxes on the wealthy, they are foolish to think that Joe is trying to take their fortunes. The Biden administration has done all it can to reward wealthy donors with its support for the Green New Deal and generous tax cuts for its lackeys in the electronic media. His rich cronies will not be inconvenienced if Biden raises corporate tax rates; they will deduct the additional cost from employees’ paychecks or pass it on to consumers. That’s how woke capitalism works.
