Federal authorities confirmed to Fox News Digital on Friday that a Mexican man accused of stabbing three people, including two children who died from their injuries, is in the United States illegally.
Victor Manuel Gomez Acosta, an illegal Mexican immigrant, was charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and two counts of driving while intoxicated after his arrest in Abbotsford, Wisconsin.
The Colby-Abbotsford Police Department said two children were found dead at the scene with stab wounds and an adult woman was also treated for stab wounds. Gomez-Acosta was found inside the residence and arrested. He was taken to a medical centre after police found him with self-inflicted stab wounds.

Gomez Acosta entered the United States legally through the port of entry in Laredo, Texas, in September 2016. However, authorities say he failed to leave the country at the times required by his entry requirements.
The arrests come just days before the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, where illegal immigration and border security are expected to be top issues for the speaker and delegates, and both are known to be top priorities for voters ahead of the November election.

Republicans blame the Biden administration for fueling the ongoing border crisis, which has seen record numbers over the past three years. They blame policies such as scaling back Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) enforcement and the reversal of Trump administration policies such as the wall and the Remain in Mexico policy.
“We’ve seen time and time again the tragic results of Joe Biden’s border crisis, and yet the president refuses to reverse course,” Rep. Tom Tiffany, R-Wisconsin, told Fox News Digital. “No town is immune to the impacts. Even towns in northern Wisconsin are feeling the horrific effects.”

The Biden administration says it is dealing with a hemispheric crisis and needs funding and reforms from Congress to fix an immigration system it calls “broken.” The administration points to alternative efforts, including a recent executive order that limited immigration and cut it by 40% in the short term. It also says the majority of migrants in the South over the past three fiscal years have been removed, deported or expelled.
