Once an enclave of spring breakers looking for warm weather, the city of Miami Beach is working together to curb the noisy parties by launching a “Spring Break Reality Check” campaign.
The reality television-themed PSA video shows how unwelcome college students are for Florida destinations.
“Think of this as a reality check. Spring break and Miami Beach do not mix,” the city of Miami Beach writes in X.

The show is fake, but the rules apply
The video begins with a group of college students driving to Miami Beach about what one young woman says will be “the best spring break ever.”
About 15 seconds after the promotion, another says, “When we arrived at Miami Beach, things went downhill quickly.”
This video begins compiling strict police surveillance, DUI checkpoints and expensive parking fees.
“Apparently the only thing that wasn't contraband was grapes and cheese,” laments one young woman.

Play by our rules or face the outcome
The video is the latest campaign effort by Miami Beach officials to discourage wild revelries from descending on wild beaches and famous nightlife.
“This year is a reality check and shows what will happen if you come here. You won't play by our rules,” said Miami Beach Mayor Stephen Minor.
Last year's campaign has limited crowd sizes in Miami Beach and less violence. Police Chief Wayne Jones said citywide arrests had fallen by 8% by March 17, 2024 compared to March 17, 2023.

Police enforcement hopes to see the same, if not better, effectiveness of the “reality check” parodies released this year.
The city saw last year's campaign as a success, but some companies said the measure had gone too far. Miami Beach nightclub M2 reported a revenue loss of $500,000 during this period. According to WSVN.
