Michael Savage Challenges Gavin Newsom on Special Master for California Fire Aid

Conservative radio legend Michael Savage told California Gov. Gavin Newsom last week that President Donald Trump should appoint a “special master” to oversee federal funds for California fire relief assistance due to a mismanagement.

Savage was the second guest in Newsom's new podcast series, focusing on conversations with conservatives.

The governor uses this series to position himself towards the president's run in 2028, moderates some of his positions while showing that he can go to the toes with conservative ideological leaders.

However, in the face of Savage's common sense ideas that reflected the proposals the author made to the president, the governor seemed confused, but he agreed that in principle there should be “accountability.”

From the transcript:

Savage: What about reconstruction at Pallisard, the Pacific? This is a hot button issue. Isn't there supposed to be a special master at managing your funds? It seems suspicious to many people.

Newsom: Which funds do you manage? FEMA dollar?

Savage: Reconstruction of Los Angeles.

Newsom: Well, the whole spectrum should be accountable.

Savage: Who is considering that?

Newsom: FEMA has rules and regulations overseen by Congress, and apparently there is a distribution of those funds. [Small Business Administration]many of which have very normative requirements that are well established across the country. But we are all accountable. I'm for accountability and there's no problem. I think it's defending that and all taxes in terms of transparency and accountability.

California's economic mismanagement is almost legendary. Last week, the state was forced to borrow $3.444 billion from Medi-Cal, according to the state's Medicaid program, which says Rep. Cal Demaio (R-San Diego) is insolvent.

And as Breitbart News points out:

2019… Co-author of California's Cap and Trade Act I complained Democrats had diverted funds from his own party – “for investments that were hardly related to the original intentions” of the program.

Even the left-leaning capital public radio hindrance Newsom for not spending his budget on preventing wildfires – and lied about it.

Savage also led Newsom to missions for other policies, including high taxes and free medical care for illegal aliens.

Newsom's podcast is attracting attention, but it is causing him new problems. In his first episode featuring Charlie Kirk, he angered LGTBTQ+ activists by backtracking the support of trans athletes. Polls suggest that California voters, especially liberals, have plenty. Liberals in particular wonder why he gives a platform to so many conservative influencers.
