Sharon Stone and Michelle Obama Discuss Hypothetical Male Pregnancy
During a light-hearted conversation, actress Sharon Stone and former First Lady Michelle Obama joked about a world where men could bear children. Stone quipped, “If men could get pregnant, you could get an abortion from a vending machine,” which elicited laughter from Obama. She enthusiastically added, “There would be the birth-Olympics.”
Obama continued with a humorous take, imagining, “Men would film themselves going into labor, honoring their pain. There would be trophies given,” before mimicking a man’s cheers for another man, saying, “Well done, dude! Bob, you did that without an epidural!”
Stone then suggested that “maternity leave would be when you got the bonus.”
After this lively exchange, Michelle Obama’s brother, Craig Robinson, attempted to steer the conversation in another direction. In response to his efforts, the former First Lady playfully teased him, saying, “This is why we don’t get help, you know? They’re like, ‘Well, I’m bored with this conversation. Let’s talk about sports,’” laughing all the while.
Stone jumped in with a sarcastic, “Moving on!” to which Robinson replied, “I didn’t push the sports.” Michelle quickly countered, “Not yet.”
As she reached for her coffee, Michelle Obama laughed and asked, “We were just getting started, weren’t we, Sharon?”
Earlier in their chat, Stone expressed frustration about the lack of education surrounding women’s health, complaining, “No one told me how to deal with my period, or what tampons really were—look, they didn’t test tampons on human blood until 2026.”
She noted that companies prior to this relied on saline solutions as a cheaper and safer option, according to Scientific American.
Stone went on to mention the insufficient medical research on women’s health issues until the early 2000s, questioning, “And now we don’t want to give women care? OB-GYN care?”
In a rather intense moment, she dramatically claimed, “We want to prosecute women for having a miscarriage! What kind of archaic nonsense is this?” However, it’s important to clarify that no woman has been convicted merely for experiencing a miscarriage.
