Midwesterners Are Done with Trump’s ‘Lack of Decency’

Actor Jeff Daniels said Friday on MSNBC’s “Deadline” that he believes people in the Midwest are over former President Donald Trump’s “lack of decency.”

Regarding the New York Business Documents Trial, Mr. Daniels said: This is costing him votes. ”

He went on to say, “It’s just a lack of decency that Donald is hitting the wagon. He keeps telling us these things. I mean, I’m watching the trial every day. You see what happened in court, and then you see him talk about it like it was a great day. No, it wasn’t. It really wasn’t. Don’t sound like a bad salesman trying to sell you a machine. I’ve never seen anything like this before. That’s what bad salesmen do.

Host Nicole Wallace said: He sells water, steaks, and now Bibles. ”

Daniels said, “He’s a bad Willy Loman. It’s a scam. The Emperor has to wear clothes, you get it. I’m not talking about the people on the right, MAGA, they’re gone. There are people on the left, but they’re not Hollywood liberals, they’re centrists in the middle of the country. I’m going to sit there and listen to someone tell me the truth. Somebody treat me with intelligence. Somebody honest with me because we need to change this country. We need to change what’s going on, because where we’re headed is, you know, I’d like to think that people in the middle are going to outdo him and demand more from the Republican Party. dropped the ball when they brought in Sarah Palin.”

He continued, “Then they doubled down and hitched their wagons to Trump. Then they went further down the rabbit hole with Trump and this is where they are.”

Daniels added, “I know of Republicans who supported Trump for tax cuts, probably DeSantis, and Nikki Haley, and now they’re throwing their hands up.” What everyone wants is civility. They want to be respected again. ”
