An illegal immigrant who was released at the border last year has been arrested on suspicion of kidnapping a teenage girl on her way to her high school in Virginia, according to a new report.
Jesus Enrique Ramirez Cabrera, 23, was arrested Friday after he allegedly approached the girl during her morning walk to school and falsely identified himself as a police officer. According to Fox News.
The illegal immigrants from Peru allegedly forced the high school student into a car and drove off, but her mother said the student was able to jump out and escape.
“She told me she would have done it whether or not the bones were broken.” her mother told InsideNoVA.“She was scared she would be raped or killed, so she took a risk.”
Authorities located Cabrera's red Jeep SUV within 48 hours, leading to his arrest.
A Fox source said Cabrera was arrested last year after illegally crossing the border in Arizona and was later released into the United States.
“This horrific crime is a direct result of Kamala Harris prioritizing her own political agenda over the safety of the American people.” Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares wrote to X of the presidential candidate tasked with leading the current administration's border policy.
“This isn't just negligence, it's a betrayal,” he added. “The safety of our communities should never be sacrificed for reckless, political decisions.”
Cabrera was charged with kidnapping, robbery, impersonating a police officer and petty theft. He is being held without bail at the Prince William County Adult Detention Center.
A representative for Cabrera could not immediately be reached for comment.
