Mikal Bridges’ ‘old-school mentality’ fueling historic consecutive games played streak

Mikal Bridges remained in the Knicks lineup on Tuesday night after landing on an injury report for the first time this season, extending an impressive streak throughout his NBA career.

Bridges has appeared in 525 consecutive times since turning Pro in 2018.

It is the 11th longest winning streak in league history, leaving 12 games in 10th place behind former Knicks coach Derek Fisher.

“I think we're seeing him when we first got him, [it’s] Tom Thibodeau is the job he will be in for the whole year after the Knicks win the eighth of nine games. “In the summer, he's working on the floor, not only on the summer, but on his body, but he has a streak he does because it's him that he puts on so he does. I'm not surprised.

The 28-year-old Bridge averages 18.2 points, a career-high 38.3 minutes per game this season, leading the NBA.

He is the only Knicks player to appear in all 51 games before Saturday's home conflict and with the Celtics.

“”[It’s] His work. That's about Jalen [Brunson] And the same can be said about Michal,” Thibodeau said. “You're not surprised when you see him working every day. I think he prepares himself for everyone in the league. The job he places every day, he's to endure what he wants to do. Building his body.

“I think that's the big key to this. He has an old-fashioned mentality, but he's an incredible worker and has old-fashioned durability. … And he does everything very well. ”

The Bridges, listed in the report on an ankle pain injury Tuesday night, aren't even midway through AC Green's highest league record in 1,192 consecutive games.

Karl Anthony Towns has at least his fifth game of the season, grabbing 20 rebounds against the Raptors, where nine of them were on the offensive glass.

“You're just building a foundation,” said Towns, who ranks second in the NBA with 13.6 boards per game. “Aggressively, I just wanted to do everything I could to help us get the ball and keep it on the offensive side. I just wanted to make an impact on the game.”
