The Golics Are Back at ESPN

Mike Golic Sr. and Mike Golic Jr. are set to return to ESPN Radio with a new weekday program called “The Golics.” The show will air from 10 a.m. to noon ET, starting August 3, as announced by the network on Monday.

This father-son duo is rejoining ESPN under a multi-year agreement, bringing one of the network’s well-known radio personalities back into the weekday mix.

Mike Golic Sr. parted ways with ESPN at the conclusion of 2020 when the network decided to end “Golic & Wingo.” He was an integral part of ESPN Radio for a quarter of a century, co-hosting “Mike & Mike” with Mike Greenberg and later working alongside Trey Wingo.

Meanwhile, Golic Jr. stayed on after his father’s exit, but he also left in 2022. During his time at ESPN from 2015 to 2022, he contributed to radio, television, and digital platforms. He had a hand in calling college football games, similar to his father.

Now, the Golic family is back together on the air.

According to Mike Foss, ESPN’s executive vice president and executive editor for sports news and entertainment, “Reuniting with the Golics presents a fantastic opportunity for our viewers. Their chemistry has been palpable since 1989, and we are thrilled to welcome their unique partnership back to the ESPN lineup.”

The show “The Golics” will take over the 6-10 a.m. slot currently occupied by “UnSportsmanLike,” which features Chris Canty, Evan Cohen, and Michelle Smallmon.

This new program will be streamed live via the ESPN app, with episodes later available on various podcast platforms. Both Golics are also expected to make appearances on other ESPN shows and platforms.

Their return aligns with a broader reorganization of ESPN Radio’s weekday schedule.

“The Rich Eisen Show” will continue from noon to 3 p.m., while “Matt & Myron,” hosted by Matt Jones and Myron Medcalf, will shift from weekends to weekdays from 3 to 5 p.m.

Then “Freddie & Harry” will air from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., followed by “Amber & Ian” from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., with “Game Night” running from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. and “Sports Center All Night” throughout the evening.

Ultimately, the most exciting aspect is the return of the Golic name to the airwaves.

After being away from ESPN’s daily radio hosting for several years, Mike Golic Sr. makes his return and will now officially co-host with his son.
