It seems like there’s nowhere for the Dolphins to turn right now.
This was the sentiment expressed by head coach Mike McDaniel on Monday, just a day after Miami faced a significant defeat against the Colts, led by Daniel Jones.
“The bright side is, you can’t really predict how it can get any worse,” McDaniel shared in a light-hearted tone.
This defeat was particularly tough, as the Dolphins couldn’t even score until the fourth quarter. Backup QB Zach Wilson struggled, while Tua Tagovailoa had a rough outing, throwing two interceptions and fumbling before being brought in late when the game was out of reach.
Tyreek Hill, who has faced trade speculation this offseason, appeared visibly frustrated during the game. Meanwhile, Daniel Jones, the former Giants quarterback, tossed three touchdowns and made key plays that helped secure the Colts’ victory.
“The negative turnover margin doesn’t help, and while we didn’t perform well, there was still some excitement about what we could achieve,” McDaniel commented, reflecting on the team’s mindset.
As McDaniel heads into his fourth season as head coach, he acknowledges that Sunday’s loss offers critical lessons. “The way we lost might just be what we need to learn from,” he said, emphasizing the importance of reviewing game footage and preparing for their next matchup against the New England Patriots, who recently fell to the Raiders.
This week’s kickoff in Miami is set for 1 PM.
