Brewers Celebrate Historic World Series Win
The Milwaukee Brewers have achieved a significant milestone by winning the 2026 World Series, marking their first championship in franchise history after defeating the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 5.
The victory, which wrapped up on Wednesday at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida, ended with a score of 4 to 1. This win comes nearly 60 years after the team was established.
In a dramatic bottom of the ninth, Brewers relief pitcher Trevor Megill threw the final pitch, sealing their long-awaited triumph. This victory is particularly sweet for the team, as it’s their second appearance in the World Series; they previously lost to the St. Louis Cardinals in 1982.
Although the Brewers nearly swept the series, they faced a setback in Game 4, losing 3 to 4 after a grueling 12 innings against the Rays.
It’s worth noting that while this championship is historic for the Brewers, Milwaukee has seen its share of success in baseball. The Milwaukee Braves, who relocated to Atlanta in 1966, won the World Series against the New York Yankees in 1957.
Following the big win, Brewers’ designated hitter and team captain, Christian Yelich, expressed his excitement for the city’s fans, saying, “I can’t wait to go home and celebrate with you.”
“You guys have been unbelievable. I’ll see you soon. I can’t wait to party; it’s going to be awesome,” he added.
Looking ahead, the Brewers will host a Parade of Champions in downtown Milwaukee on Friday at 10:00 a.m. CT, which will culminate in a rally and fan festival at Henry Maier Festival Park, as reported by Major League Baseball (MLB).
Additionally, the celebration will impact local public schools, which have announced closures on Friday due to the festivities and safety considerations surrounding the parade.
