Gay Bees Boost Productivity in Minecraft During Pride Event
In a recent promotional event honoring Pride, players of Minecraft are experiencing more productive gameplay with “gay bees.” A free add-on, available for a limited time on the game’s online marketplace, features over ten different varieties of bees and banners adorned in Pride themed designs. This event appears to also highlight elements of fetish and BDSM culture.
Microsoft has yet to reply to inquiries about the promotion. On social media, Minecraft Marketplace announced, “In celebration of Stockholm Pride, we’re releasing the Hive of Harmony add-on for free on Marketplace.” They emphasized the sense of community fostered by Minecraft, where players can express their identities and create their own villages, likening it to a supportive bee colony.
The marketplace post elaborated on the vibrant and diverse community, noting that the rainbow-colored hives will “grow twice as fast,” powered by the collective strength of the bee colony. Players will also have access to a special “powerful Ally Queen bee,” along with various pride flag options, including the transgender flag.
According to Stockholm Pride’s website, this Pride festival runs from July 21 to August 1 and features the largest pride parade in Scandinavia, attracting around 50,000 participants. Alongside the parade, there’s a “Pride District” showcasing various artists, exhibitions, restaurants, and bars offering music and parties.
Notably, the festival includes a “Kinky Quarter,” which has relocated to an exciting new venue, the Slakthus area, known for its historical significance in fetish and BDSM events. The organizers invite everyone to feel at home in this vibrant setting.
Minecraft stands as one of the top video games globally, boasting over 200 million players. Microsoft acquired the game for $2.5 billion in 2014, just three years after it launched in 2011.
