Several individuals arrested Monday evening outside a hotel in Maple Grove, Minnesota, where Border Patrol Commander Gregory Bovino was staying, reportedly had criminal histories.
According to police, the rioters started hurling objects at officers dispatched to the Spring Hill Suites, causing property damage. Authorities deemed the gathering an unlawful assembly and began making arrests, as reported by FOX News on Wednesday.
That night, thirteen people were taken into custody.
Fox indicated that Justin Neil Shelton was arrested for obstructing a legal process. Shelton had previously pled guilty in 2007 to first-degree aggravated robbery after attempting to steal a car from a pregnant woman, according to the Pioneer Press.
Fortunately, the unborn child was unharmed during the incident.
Another person arrested was Abraham Nelson Coleman, who has a record involving theft, felonious assault, and criminal damage.
John Linden Gribble, a 40-year-old also taken into custody, had prior convictions for misdemeanor DUI and operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, as cited in the Fox article.
Among the women arrested, one is identified as a law student at the University of Minnesota, while another is noted to be an anti-Israel activist. Another female individual reportedly worked as a birth assistant at a center in Minnesota.
Video clips depict the rising tensions outside the hotel:
Breitbart News reported that Bovino emphasized during a recent press conference that violence against police will not be tolerated.
“If you obstruct or assault a law enforcement officer, you are violating the law and will be arrested.”
Furthermore, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) recently apprehended 16 individuals in Democratic-controlled states on charges of rioting and assault against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers, as noted by Breitbart News.
Regarding activists targeting officials outside hotels, a left-leaning group in Minneapolis faced ridicule last week for attempting to confront Vice President J.D. Vance outside a hotel, not realizing he had already departed.
“These pot-banging protests coincided with leftist opposition to ICE’s arrests of undocumented individuals across the city and state,” according to Breitbart News.
