Virginia Football Coach Disappears Amid Child Pornography Charges

Travis Turner, a high school football coach in Virginia, went missing after leaving home without essential items, just as he faced serious child pornography charges. His family released an emotional plea, urging him to confront the allegations.

Turner was last spotted heading into the woods on November 20, abandoning his vehicle, keys, contact lenses, glasses, and daily medications. Adrian Collins, the family’s attorney, noted that Turner left behind his wallet, driver’s license, and cash, all of which were found at home. “He needs those medications,” Collins said.

Collins had mentioned earlier that Turner, who had been a respected head coach at Union High School in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, had fled to a wooded area carrying a firearm. “This is something he’s done frequently over the years,” Collins explained regarding the walks into the woods.

Turner’s wife, Leslie Caudill Turner, alerted the authorities when he didn’t return, filing a missing persons report the next day. Collins clarified that Turner was not a fugitive at the time of his disappearance, as no formal charges had been filed until days later. He also refuted the notion that Leslie was involved in his disappearance, stressing, “My wife wasn’t helping him escape; she was seeking help to find him.”

His family, heartbroken by his absence, shared their wishes for his safe return. “Leslie is begging you to come home and face the court,” Collins said. “You have a family that loves and misses you; they want you to know they’re here for you.”

Initially treated as a missing persons case, authorities later revealed that Turner was wanted for five counts of child pornography and five counts of using a computer to solicit a minor. Virginia State Police, along with the FBI and U.S. Marshals, continue their search.

A $5,000 reward for information regarding his capture has been offered by U.S. Marshals. Following the warrant for her husband’s arrest, Leslie Caudill Turner has removed her presence from social media.

Authorities have cautioned the public that Turner may be armed, advising careful approaches. Before he went missing, Turner had successfully led his team to an undefeated season, but since his disappearance, the team has secured two playoff victories, advancing to the state semifinals after a recent regional championship win.
