Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey told Fox News Digital that after opening an investigation into a Missouri school district where a teenage girl was assaulted by another student, the school is refusing to respond.
Bailey exclusively told Fox News Digital last week that he is launching an investigation into the Hazelwood School District and its diversity, equity and inclusion efforts. (DEI) programs contributed to safety deficiencies following violent attacks.
“Ms. Hazelwood owes the district’s parents and the community at large an explanation of what role these radical plans and safety deficiencies played here,” Bailey’s staff said in a statement. He emphasized that this is the focus of the investigation.
After several days of silence from the Hazelwood School District, a spokesperson fired back at Bailey, claiming his research was riddled with inaccuracies. Mr. Bailey shared his email exchange exclusively with Fox News.

“It is unfortunate that there is an Attorney General who intentionally disrespects public school district administrators and elected officials by sending out misleading communications intended to intimidate and intimidate their leadership. It’s amazing that they’re starting an investigation based on lies that could have been so easily verified, if only they had taken a few minutes to check the facts before sending the correspondence,” said Hazelwood School District Attorney Cindy Rees-Ounsby. wrote.
Ownsby maintains that the March 8 fight did not occur “during class,” but after school, more than 400 meters from the school grounds, and that there was an SRO (school resource officer) inside the school building. The school has not been able to prevent fights from occurring outside of school grounds or during school hours.
Ownersby went on to question Bailey’s sincerity, pointing to other matches in the area that did not receive the same media coverage as this match.
“It assumes, without official verification, that the March 8 altercation occurred between a white student and a black student, when other incidents were black-on-black student or student-teacher conflicts. Do you care about white students? Is their safety more important than the safety of black students? Again, without any official verification or specific knowledge, in March Do you honestly believe that the fight on the 8th was the result of racial tensions between female students caused by HSD’s belief in the importance of black student safety? Diversity, Equity for All Will it bring about gender and inclusivity? ” Ownsby said in his email.

Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey is investigating the Hazelwood School District after 16-year-old high school student Kaylee Gaines was brutally assaulted in a viral video. “We are deeply concerned that the schools where these teens were students have a history of promoting divisive racial ideologies surrounding the safety of their students,” Bailey said in a statement.
Ownsby further interrogates Bailey and attacks his character.
“Which community do you represent as Missouri Attorney General? Do you represent all Missourians, or only white people? Indifference about the accuracy of your claims. combined with false assumptions about the safety provided by government, HSD is not your attorney general for all Missourians, but rather the attorney general for people who think and believe like you. may lead to a belief that he is the Secretary of State,” Ownsby wrote.
Bailey responded to an email saying the district misunderstood the nature of the investigation after initially pointing out irrelevant details.
“In my letter, I cited several sources, including publicly available news reports and the district’s own policies. The most egregious ‘error’ you point out is the incorrect date reported in local media. It’s mentioned. As with any investigation, my office seeks to find out. “Facts regarding the incident in question. The incident you have publicly acknowledged involved students from Hazelwood East,” Bailey responded.
“I would like to clarify that my letter does not indicate that your “most egregious mistake” was that the date (and time) of the incident was incorrect. Your most egregious mistake was that race was a factor in the incident, and school resource officers would have been at the scene of the incident, which occurred half a mile from school grounds, after school,” Ownsby replied. I sent it by email.

Mr. Bailey specifically pointed to Section 610, which requires public government agencies to produce records or provide a letter within three days explaining why requested documents are not being disclosed.
“Instead of taking offense or attacking humanity over the mention of dates, we should act immediately in accordance with Missouri law,” Bailey said.
Ownsby responded that the district acknowledged receiving the Sunshine Act request and would make every effort to provide the requested records by April 15.
Bailey said the investigation will determine whether the district violated the Missouri Human Rights Act, which “guarantees the right of all Missourians to be free from discrimination and to the full enjoyment of public accommodations.” said.
