The father told investigators that after attacking the older Guede with a weapon and his own hands, he passed out in the kitchen, bleeding from his face and back, the complaint said.
Manchester City police, whose jurisdiction is where the crime took place, were called by the sheriff's office and arrived at the father's home for a welfare check. Police entered the home through a basement window and found the victim dead, face down on the kitchen floor with multiple stab wounds.
According to police documents, when detectives spoke with the murder suspect after the discovery, the suspect stated, “I know I can't walk away because I accidentally killed someone.''
He refused to speak further and asked for a lawyer.
An autopsy the next day revealed that Edward Guede had suffered about 50 stab wounds, as well as broken bones, strangulation and blunt force trauma to the head, authorities said.

A knife with a sharp tip was found in the trash can in the kitchen, and police believe it was the murder weapon.
Guede faces first-degree murder charges and armed criminal charges. Leader Publishing reported. He is currently being held without bail.
Jefferson County Sheriff Dave Marshak told the program that Guede went to the sheriff's office rather than the Manchester Police Department because he trusts law enforcement throughout the county.
