Missouri Man’s Bridge Jump to Evade Police Captured on Video

A 26-year-old man from Missouri made headlines recently after he jumped off a bridge during a police chase. This dramatic incident, which took place on July 18, was recorded and later released by the Stone County Sheriff’s Office.

Gavin Thor Lundgren, from Kimberling, led deputies on a chase in the early hours of the morning, sprinting over a two-lane bridge before leaping headfirst into Table Rock Lake. Fortunately, the sheriff’s office reported that he survived the fall. They noted, “This was definitely a first for him,” although he did resist arrest, leading to minor injuries for some officers during the confrontation.

Lundgren was arrested shortly after the jump and faces several charges, including three counts of third-degree assault of a special victim, resisting arrest in a felony, fleeing from arrest, and careless driving.

According to reports, officers attempted to stop Lundgren’s 2004 Chevrolet Malibu when they noticed it speeding at nearly 115 mph in a 45 mph zone at about 1:50 a.m. Instead of pulling over, he led the authorities on a pursuit, abandoned his car—which was still running—before jumping off the bridge.

During the scuffle that followed his arrest, officials indicated that Lundgren headbutted two deputies, resulting in injuries such as facial bruises and cuts on their hands, elbows, and forearms. It’s an unusual case, to say the least. Currently, Lundgren is being held without bail at the Stone County Jail.

Interestingly, there’s something quite surreal about the whole situation. I mean, who thinks jumping off a bridge is a viable escape plan? Yet, here we are. Life can certainly take unexpected turns.
