Mitchell Robinson Discusses Mental Health After Ejection
Knicks center Mitchell Robinson opened up about his mental health after being ejected alongside Hawks guard Dyson Daniels during Game 6 of their playoff series on Thursday night.
Robinson reflected on his situation in a Facebook post, stating, “I knew something was up.” This came after the Knicks secured a significant victory, beating the Hawks 140-89, marking the largest playoff win in the team’s history.
He also mentioned, “My mental state is the same. I’m just lost in the world now.”
Additionally, he shared a pregame post, indicating he was “trying hard to stay calm.” This follows the emergence of new footage on social media, supposedly recorded by a fan.
In his Instagram Story, Robinson posted a lighthearted video featuring cartoon animals, though it carried a strong message.
Things got heated when OG Anunoby sank two free throws, extending the Knicks’ lead to 50 points with under five minutes left in the first half. During the second free throw, Robinson boxed out Daniels, who hit him with an elbow, leading to a confrontation.
Emotions flared, and players from both teams quickly stepped in to separate them. Onyeka Okongwu from Atlanta and Jalen Brunson from the Knicks were involved in trying to diffuse the situation as it threatened to escalate near the courtside fans.
Ultimately, both players received technical fouls and were ejected from the game. At one point, Knicks head coach Mike Brown fell to the ground amid the chaos.
As of Friday morning, the NBA had yet to announce any suspensions regarding the incident.
Interestingly, Robinson and Daniels had developed a rapport over the series. They had exchanged words throughout, with tensions building since Game 1, when Robinson received a technical foul.
The entire scene unfolded while the Knicks dominated the court. It was noted that Atlanta’s halftime deficit of 83-36 set a new record for the largest in NBA playoff history.
