MSNBC's “Morning Joe” hosts Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough said their guest Donnie Deutsch said President Trump “took advantage of America's pulse” by pardoning the Jan. 6 offenders. She had a meltdown on Tuesday after making the claim.
To the fury of Democrats, hours after taking office on Monday, Trump took on an item at the top of his to-do list, pardoning about 1,500 Capitol rioters and commuting the sentences of 14 people.
“Too Soon” host Ali Vitali noted that President Trump could be exonerated of the January 6 riot with “the stroke of a pen,” adding that everyone in “Washington and beyond” I held my breath, thinking that I would have no choice but to accept, “This is the current situation.'' ”
When Mr. Scarborough pointed out that the election was close by “1.5 percentage points'' and that Republicans had small majorities in both houses of Congress, Mr. Deutsch interjected.
“I would like to add one thing to this, and this goes for us as well, that he [Trump] It tapped into the heartbeat of America,” Deutsch said.
Brzezinski tried to interject, telling Deutsch, “If the heartbeat of America is having the families of the hostages stand behind you, that marketing visual is pretty much something.”
Ms. Deutsch quickly responded, “I'm not saying I don't like it,” and then spoke about her protest, saying, “Listen, listen, listen to me.”
“I'm talking about January 6th,” Brzezinski replied sharply.
“People will absorb that because he gives them what they want elsewhere,” Deutsch responded. “This is just…I hope Democrats learn that they can get away with this nonsense if they give people what they want to hear and what they need.”
“Yes,” Brzezinski retorted.
Mr. Scarborough then interjected, reminding Mr. Brzezinski that Mr. Trump “told them this.” [Americans] what was he trying to do? ”
“He did,” she answered.
“As they said in Roman times, he provides bread and circuses,” Scarborough continued. “It entertains them, but behind the scenes he's breaking convention after convention.”
Deutsch tries to interject: “I'm not saying you should ignore anyone. In fact, I'm saying the opposite.”
Scarborough went on to point out that Trump had promised to “break every norm.”
