Most MAGA Voters Say Trump Should Seek Revenge in Second Term

Most MAGA voters think former President Donald Trump should seek revenge in a second term, according to a new CBS News/YouGov poll.

In the survey, found Trump, who had the “highest” lead ever in the Republican primary, outscoring his opponent by 55 points, or 69% approval rating, also warned MAGA voters and non-MAGA voters that Trump is politically accountable. I asked him if he thought he should take revenge in his second term by filing criminal charges. Opponents should he arrive at the White House.

A majority of MAGA voters (55%) think Trump should retaliate by criminally indicting his political opponents, while three in 10 non-MAGA voters agree.

But 45% of MAGA voters say Trump should not seek retaliation in such a way, and most non-MAGA voters (70%) agree.

The survey was conducted from January 10-12, 2024 among 786 likely Republican primary voters. That portion of the survey has a margin of error of +/- 4.7%.

President Trump briefly addressed the issue about possible retaliation during a Fox News town hall in Iowa on Wednesday, but essentially spoke to Trump's rivals Nikki Haley and Ron.・This was a counter-program to Governor DeSantis' CNN debate.

“First of all, a lot of people would say it's not that bad. Look what they've done, Russia, Russia, Russian hoax. FBI. Twitter hoax. 51 agents are a hoax. All these different hoaxes that they've done. I mean, a lot of people would probably say that's pretty normal,” Trump said.

“We don't have time for retaliation. We don't have time for retaliation because we're going to make this country successful again,” Trump said, to applause. “And remember this: our ultimate reward is success.”

Remarkably, Trump's town hall event drew about twice as many viewers as CNN's Republican primary debate.
