Tragic Murders in Willmar, Alabama
A woman, her pregnant teenage daughter, and her 12-year-old son were discovered bound and brutally murdered in their home in Willmar, Alabama, according to authorities.
Mobile County Sheriff Paul Burch reported that officers arrived at the scene around 2:30 a.m. and found the three victims in separate rooms, each with their hands tied behind their backs.
The victims have been identified as Lisa Gail Fields, age 46, who suffered stab wounds; Keziah Aliona Rooker, 17, who was shot; and 12-year-old Thomas Cordell Jr., whose throat was nearly severed. Rooker was reportedly six to seven months pregnant at the time of her death.
Burch described the crime scene as especially brutal, expressing his disbelief that anything could justify such violence. “If you have issues with an adult… there’s nothing worth killing, but brutally killing two children… I hope this animal will be taken off the streets soon,” he commented.
In a surprising twist, law enforcement found an unharmed 18-month-old child in the home. Burch noted that they do not suspect any domestic issues contributed to the killings.
Investigators believe the homicide involved multiple perpetrators, pointing to signs that the home had been ransacked, which may indicate the killers were searching for something specific. “It looks planned, as they seemed to have brought zip ties and flex cuffs,” Burch added.
The father of Rooker’s unborn child expressed concern after being unable to reach her and noticed her phone was active on Life360. When a family member went to the home, they found all three victims dead and tied up in different rooms.
Mobile County District Attorney’s Office may seek additional charges for the death of Rooker’s unborn child if a suspect is apprehended. Burch mentioned that there are “solid leads” in the ongoing investigation.
Rooker’s father shared that she had recently earned her GED. “This is a senseless murder,” he said, remembering his daughter as a bright light in their lives. “She made you smile. She had empathy for everyone. She loved her siblings and her mother dearly.”
