Mother of slain Rachel Morin questions if she could accept an apology from the killer as he approaches sentencing.

The mother of Rachel Morin, a Maryland woman who was murdered, expressed uncertainty about whether the convicted killer, an illegal immigrant, would genuinely apologize at Monday’s sentencing hearing.

Victor Martinez Hernandez, a 24-year-old from El Salvador, is set to be sentenced after being found guilty of raping and murdering five mothers while they were out jogging in Baltimore in 2023.

Before the hearing, Patty Morin shared her conflicted feelings with Fox News’ Fox and Friends regarding whether she wanted to hear from the perpetrator.

“Honestly, I don’t know. Even if he spoke, would you really trust what he says?” she remarked.

She mentioned that when the family delivered a heartfelt victim impact statement to the court, they were advised not to address Martinez Hernandez directly.

“They have some protocols to follow. One of the requirements was that we shouldn’t engage with him or directly address him, nor should we suggest a sentence to the judge,” she explained.

Patty Morin emphasized her hope that the judge would honor Rachel’s life and preserve her dignity by handing down a fitting sentence.

Martinez Hernandez, accused of entering the U.S. illegally and murdering another woman from his home country, was found guilty of violently abducting Rachel Morin from a running trail, assaulting her, and disposing of her body in a dark drainage area.

He faces life in prison for these brutal crimes, which have sparked national outrage and become a significant topic during the 2024 presidential election.

Rachel Morin was a mother of five. It remains uncertain how many of her children will be present for the sentencing.
