For a few kids growing up in Hollywood, acting runs in the family. Many children of parents in the entertainment industry go on to build established careers in the same field. There have also been several cases where mother-daughter duos have co-starred on the big screen.
Whether it’s a small cameo, a supporting role, or a starring role, it’s always fascinating to see real-life families act as characters on screen.
Andie MacDowell, Uma Thurman, and Leslie Mann are just a few examples of actresses who have starred in movies and TV shows with their biological children.

1. Andie MacDowell and Margaret Qualley
McDowell’s daughter Margaret Qualley, with ex-husband Paul Qualley, is the star of the Netflix show Maid. Qualley received an Emmy nomination for playing Alex, a single mother who breaks up with her violent boyfriend and takes a job as a maid to make ends meet and support her young daughter.
McDowell will also appear on the show, playing the mother of Qualley’s character Paula.
Both McDowell and Qualley spoke about what it was like working with each other on the limited series television show.
“Every moment was precious to me,” McDowell said of working with Qualley in an interview with USA Today. “I really wanted to do a good job, because that meant everything to me, because I was scared that something like this would never happen again.”

Qualley also speaks fondly of working with her mother on the show.
“You walk into a room and your mom is playing your mom. That’s the biggest cheat in the world,” she told USA Today. “It goes all the way from the inherent eye roll that’s built in when the mother says something. And then there’s a moment later in the series where Paula tells Alex that she’s proud of him. I felt like my mom was saying that.” That she was proud of me, and that was one of the best things that ever happened to me. ”
Qualley has also appeared in many other films and shows, including “Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood,” “Fosse/Verdon,” and “My Salinger Year.”
2. Uma Thurman and Maya Hawke
Maya Hawke, the daughter of Thurman and Ethan Hawke, shot to fame when she joined the cast of the Netflix series Stranger Things as Robin Buckley.

Thurman and his daughter will star in the thriller “The Kill Room,” scheduled for release in summer 2023. It seems that this is not the only movie in which the two will co-star.
Director Quentin Tarantino has hinted that Hawke could be cast to play Thurman’s daughter in Kill Bill Vol. 3, if the movie goes ahead.
Hawke has also appeared in other films such as “Fear Street,” “Mainstream,” and “Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood.”
3. Leslie Mann and Maud, Iris Apatow
Mann has co-starred with his two daughters in numerous films. She has daughters Maud Apatow and Iris Apatow with her husband Judd Apatow, a film director. In fact, the three films Mann and her daughters starred in were all directed by Judd Apatow and involved her entire family.

The sisters co-starred with their mother in three different films, with their biggest role being in This is 40, which received the most screen time. The two played daughters Sadie and Charlotte in the film. Her daughters also appeared in “Knocked Up” and “Funny People.”
Maude then appeared in the TV drama series Euphoria, playing Lexi Howard.
4. Meryl Streep and Mamie Gummer
The mother-daughter duo first worked together in the 2007 film Evening, when Gunmar was almost three years old, and later appeared in Heartburn.
The 2015 film “Ricky and the Flash” is the most famous film in which the duo appeared. Streep plays a musician who gives up his career to return to his girlfriend’s family. Gunmar plays Streep’s daughter in the film.
Streep shares Gummer with her husband, Don Gummer. They were married in 1978 and have four children: Henry, Mamie, Grace and Louisa.

5. Demi Moore and Rumer Willis
Moore co-starred with her daughter Rumer in two films. They first appeared in the 1995 film Now and Then, and the following year they appeared in Striptease.
Rumer is the daughter of Moore Willis and Bruce Willis. The couple was married from 1987 to 2000.
6. angelina jolie and vivienne jolie pitt
Jolie played the lead role in the movie Maleficent, where her daughter Vivian played the adorable role of young Princess Aurora.
Jolie told Entertainment Weekly at the time of the film’s release that her young daughter with ex-husband Brad Pitt was the only one of her children to play the role who wasn’t afraid of her character. He said it was because of that.
“I think it’s fun for kids to have cameos and be on set, but being an actor isn’t.
