“Young Washington” Biopic Set to Release on July 4, 2026

A new film titled “Young Washington” will delve into the early life of the first president of the United States, George Washington. It’s set for release in theaters on July 4, 2026.

This biopic aims to provide a fresh perspective on Washington, focusing on his life as a 21-year-old before the U.S. Constitution. As the narrative unfolds, we see Washington grappling with the consequences of personal setbacks and the heavy responsibilities he bears. The story promises to reveal, not just a military figure, but a man shaped by humility and resilience.

The film is the result of a partnership between Angel Studios and Wonder Project, directed by John Irwin, known for his previous work on “Jesus Revolution” and the series “House of David.”

Irwin expressed his enthusiasm about this project, stating that he has long wanted to share Washington’s compelling origin story. He referred to it as a “true pioneer story” that offers an opportunity to partner with a distribution network dedicated to impactful storytelling. Irwin believes “Young Washington” goes beyond just being a film; it’s a celebration of the American spirit and the nation’s beginnings.

Interestingly, the release date aligns with the 250th anniversary of the United States, which, I think, adds a unique layer of significance. Filming is scheduled to begin this summer.

Jordan Harmon, president of Angel Studios, mentioned the collaborative effort behind the film, emphasizing their shared goal of delivering powerful and inspirational narratives. He sees the depiction of Washington during such a formative period as a fitting way to commemorate America’s upcoming milestone.
