MSNBC’s Joy Reid says Black people will look ‘real weird’ if they don’t vote for Kamala Harris

MSNBC host Joy Reid said Tuesday that black people would look “really weird” if they don’t vote for Democratic front-runner Kamala Harris in November’s presidential election.

“Given that Vice President Kamala Harris entered the presidential race with such a bang that she secured enough delegates to be the nominee, it would seem really crazy to be on the other side of that line, especially as a person of color and as someone who claims cultural connection,” Reed said. “It would seem really weird and lonely to be on the other side,” she added. “It would seem really insane to be on the other side when you consider the cultural phenomenon that is Vice President Kamala Debbie Harris. She’s about to make history. She’s about to become the first woman president.”

“We need to close the door behind Amber. [Rose]”She looked like she lost her mind out there, but close the door behind her,” Reid said, reigniting a feud with Rhodes, whom he criticized after speaking at the Republican National Convention last week.

MSNBC’s Joy Reid said Tuesday that Black people would look “really weird” if they didn’t vote for presumptive Democratic nominee Kamala Harris.

“She’s racially ambiguous. I don’t want to say she’s black because she says she’s not black, so I don’t want to say this black woman,” Reid said after Rose’s speech. “This woman claims she’s not black, but [the RNC] We’re bringing in someone who has based his career on black culture.”

“Her entire culture comes from black culture, even though she says she’s not black herself. And now she’s being used to recruit young people of color, saying she’s a supporter of Donald Trump and she’s credible, but she hasn’t even claimed the culture that inspired her to run. I doubt this will work,” Reid said.

Rose fired back at X, accusing the MSNBC host of “racist bashing.”

“Hi @JoyAnnReid. I never said I’m not black. I said I identify as mixed race,” Rose responded in a since-deleted tweet. “To reassure you, I’m not dissing my white father. Stop being a racist. Your president has incited enough racism against all of us.”

Harris became a leading contender for the 2024 Democratic presidential nomination on Monday after President Biden dropped out of the race and endorsed her.

“I am proud to have garnered the support necessary to be our party’s nominee,” Harris said in a social media post on Tuesday.

Harris has received pledges of support from a majority of the roughly 4,000 delegates at the Democratic National Convention, which begins in Chicago on August 19 next month.

Now that Harris has secured the Democratic presidential nomination, what’s next for her?

Harris delivered her first campaign speech on Monday at her presidential campaign headquarters in Delaware.

Harris’ speech sent chills and shockwaves through some media commentators at MSNBC, where Reid works.

“Her eyes were shining. There was a spark in her step that, as vice president, you can’t let your guard down. There’s somebody above you and you don’t want to overshadow them. And this was quite a coming out. When she said, ‘Donald Trump, I know the type of person you are,’ I was horrified. I thought, ‘Wow, she’s going to prosecute this case,'” said MSNBC commentator Donny Deutsch.

He continued, “And I was blown away. I was like, I fell in love with her. I thought she was smart, I thought she was attractive. She’s funny, she’s spunky, she’s got a sparkle in her eye, she punches you in the gut. I mean, she’s everything you want. And I thought she was a really great opening act.”
