Teacher Accused of Double Murder in Arkansas

A teacher has been accused of killing two parents in front of their young daughter at Devilsden State Park in Arkansas. It has come to light that Andrew James McGan, 28, once made unsettling remarks to a little girl, asking her to be his “girlfriend” while working at a Texas school.

Authorities claim McGan admitted to fatally stabbing Clinton David Brink, 43, and his wife, Kristan Amanda Brink, 41, last Saturday. Witnesses have recounted troubling incidents where McGan would place “a little girl on his lap” and make uncomfortable comments.

“This monster was around our kids,” one father expressed in distress.

Reports suggest that McGan showed favoritism towards female students, often treating them to candies, drinks, and engaging in questionable behavior, as noted by a concerned parent.

The North Texas School District of Louisville ISD disclosed that McGan had been on administrative leave from 2022 to 2023 due to issues regarding classroom management and favoritism, although their investigations yielded no evidence of inappropriate conduct.

He resigned in May 2023, which led to some frustration among parents who believed he should have been dismissed immediately and that authorities should have been notified.

Sierra Malcolm, a parent whose son was in McGan’s fourth-grade class, described him as odd. She noted that he was distant and gave short responses when prompted in conversation.

“He was the most standoffish teacher I’ve ever encountered,” she remarked, sharing her concerns after her son brought home stories about McGan’s behavior.

Malcolm mentioned that some kids, along with her son, felt uneasy about McGan showing particular attention to certain girls.

The allegations of murder have caught many off guard, including Malcolm, who never thought he was capable of violence.

After his time in Texas, McGan was hired to teach fifth grade in Oklahoma, where a background check revealed nothing alarming that would prevent his employment.

The district stated that all necessary checks had been completed, and there were no apparent red flags from his interviews.

Just days before his arrest, McGan was set to begin a new teaching role at Springdale public schools, but it was confirmed he had no interaction with students or families during that time.

Tragically, McGan allegedly attacked the Brinks while their two daughters, ages 9 and 7, managed to escape unharmed. Following a five-day manhunt, police apprehended him at a barber shop while he was getting a haircut.

McGan has been charged with capital murder and appeared in court, where he was ordered to be held without bail. Investigators are still trying to uncover the motive behind this brutal attack.
