Identities of Twins Killed in Suspected Murder-Suicide Released

Authorities have revealed the names of the 10-year-old twins who tragically lost their lives in a suspected murder-suicide involving their father in California. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office identified the boys as Gracen Chavez and Joseph Chavez, but the specific causes of their deaths were not disclosed.

This heartbreaking event unfolded on Sunday at a residence on Owensmouth Avenue, located in the Canoga Park area of San Fernando Valley.

While investigators suspect a murder-suicide took place, further details surrounding the circumstances leading up to the tragedy remain unclear.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene around 7:15 PM on Sunday and encountered family members visibly distressed outside the property. Eyewitness reports suggest the violence may have erupted during a family gathering, although authorities have yet to validate these claims.

The father, whose name is still not confirmed, is believed to have taken the lives of his children before turning the gun on himself.

The investigation is still underway, with officials yet to provide a possible motive for this harrowing incident.

Eyewitness accounts included a woman depicted in distress, seated on the ground, face covered, as she cried in the arms of a man following the tragedy.

One local resident expressed their sorrow, stating, “It’s really sad. Two young children and a father. That’s a family. Nobody deserves that.”

Another community member, known as CC Pelkey, shared, “This is tragic and my heart breaks for this family. Something like this should never happen to anyone.” They went on to reflect on the lost potential of the children, questioning why the father didn’t seek help for whatever struggles he faced, adding, “I just have no words right now.”
