Nancy Mace Introduces Legislation to Punish Ilhan Omar for Inappropriate Comments on Kirk's Death

Resolution to Strip Ilhan Omar of Committee Assignments

Representative Nancy Mace (R-SC) has announced that she submitted a resolution aimed at removing Representative Ilhan Omar (D-MN) from her committee positions. This action follows what Mace described as “disgraceful remarks” concerning the assassination of Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA.

In a post on platform X, Mace included a photo of the resolution. It includes a condemnation of Omar and calls for her removal from both the Committee on Education and Workforce and the Budget Committee.

A portion of the text shared in Mace’s post outlines the circumstances surrounding Kirk’s death:

Charlie Kirk was a lifelong advocate for freedom of speech and engaged young people in political discourse. He was also a family man, a devoted husband, and a father to two young children.

On September 10, 2025, Kirk was tragically assassinated at Utah Valley University.

The following day, Senator Omar took part in interviews where she made disparaging comments about Kirk, hinting at deeper implications regarding his murder.

Just two days later, on September 12, Omar shared a video expressing her condolences but also criticized how some were leveraging his death for their agendas.

Kirk was killed by a gunshot wound to the neck during an event at the university.

As covered by Breitbart News, during an interview with ex-MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan, Omar labeled conservatives, including Mace and Donald Trump, as “full of shit” for claiming that political violence is primarily a leftist issue.

Omar further expressed disappointment in Trump’s anticipated address to the nation, hoping for a more compassionate tone in light of recent events. She remarked that Kirk’s approach to discussing issues like George Floyd’s death felt dismissive.

Omar criticized the tendency of some political figures to display a lack of compassion, suggesting that young people sometimes show more empathy than those in leadership roles. She highlighted that individuals like Mace often target those they perceive as inferior, while Trump has incited violence against marginalized groups.

When asked about Omar’s comments, Trump called her a “disgraceful person” and supported the idea that she should be stripped of her committee responsibilities. He reiterated that he viewed her as dishonorable and a “loser.”

This ongoing clash between Omar and her critics reflects a deeper divide in political discourse, particularly regarding issues of speech and accountability in the wake of tragedy.
