NASCAR’s Shifting Support for LGBTQ+ Community
NASCAR seems to have stepped back from its LGBTQ+ pride event for 2025, but online sleuths have soon pointed out some inconsistencies in their approach to fans.
In 2024, the racing organization openly shared graphics on social media that included a flag supporting transgender rights. They previously stated, “NASCAR is proud to be able to support the LGBTQ+ community” on their Instagram account. Yet in 2025, fans noted a glaring absence of such support—until someone unearthed posts that had slipped under the radar.
Blaze News couldn’t locate any LGBTQ+ references on NASCAR’s Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook recently. However, a user noticed that the organization opted to promote these messages in more discreet spaces.
“There’s a reason to post this on @NASCAR’s LinkedIn, but how about other social media?” they asked, sharing screenshots.
Oddly enough, NASCAR celebrated Pride Month on their LinkedIn, featuring assertive graphics declaring “Pride Month.” They mentioned they would honor the LGBTQ+ community even after June. However, the engagement on the post was underwhelming with minimal feedback, including a pointed comment from a medical assistant questioning the lack of visibility on other platforms while still promoting career opportunities.
This disconnect sparked curiosity. Outkick’s Alejandro Avila commented on the unusual choice to focus on LinkedIn. It highlights an odd contradiction, especially as viewership for NASCAR has been declining this year. After 17 races, audience numbers dropped by over 5.4% compared to 2024, totaling nearly 175,000 fewer viewers per event.
While NASCAR had seen a slight increase in viewership last year, these new trends raise questions about audience engagement. The inclusion of more diverse drivers, like Catherine Leg and Toni Bradinger, has brought some attention, but recent developments seem to have stirred discontent among fans on both sides of the issue.
Interestingly, some fans were put off that NASCAR still opts to market pride-themed merchandise, even while shying away from visible public support. Comments regarding T-shirts with phrases like “Yaaascar” were voiced, suggesting a contradictory stance.
One fan remarked, “These actions don’t surprise me, but they are still disappointing.”
