A Nashville man killed his wife with a hammer in their home on New Year's Day and buried her body in a grave on another county property, authorities said.

Joseph Glynn, 70, was buried Saturday with the body of his 76-year-old wife, Jackie Glynn, who was buried in a 6-foot grave on the couple's joint property in DeKalb County, the Nashville Metropolitan Police Department said. He was arrested after the police discovered him. A Silver Alert had been issued for Jackie the day before.

Investigators said Glynn admitted to hitting Jackie over the head with a hammer at his home on January 1 and driving her body to DeKalb County for burial the next day. FOX17 Nashville report.

Police said Glynn then told his wife's children that he had left home because he was terminally ill.
