The Border Patrol Coalition, which represents more than 18,000 employees, endorsed Ohio Senate Republican candidate Bernie Moreno on Friday.
Paul Perez, president of the National Border Patrol Council, said in a written statement:
The National Border Patrol Council is proud to endorse Bernie Moreno for U.S. Senate. In an unprecedented crisis of illegal border crossings that has left millions of people insecure under the Biden-Harris administration, we need strong congressional partners who will stand up and fight to protect our borders. As the brave men and women of the NBPC face the consequences of the Biden-Harris administration's failed border policies; We need proven leaders like Bernie to protect border security.. Run for Senate with Bernie Moreno. [emphasis added].
In response, Moreno said the border is becoming increasingly open under the watchful eye of Vice President Kamala Harris and Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio).
He explained: “Thank you for your support of Border Patrol agents on the front lines of the crisis at our southern border. Under the watchful eye of Kamala Harris and Sherrod Brown, our southern border is in turmoil. We will always support border security in the Senate. I will.”
A recent Ohio State poll found Moreno leading Brown by two points, 48 to 46 percent.

Ohio is one of the last counterintuitive U.S. Senate seats, a largely red state where left-wing Democrats have managed to win reelection over the past decade. Mr. Brown is one of the far-left Democrats in Washington, D.C., and a vote that Democrats can always count on. But when he returns home to Ohio, he suddenly finds himself close to a stalwart Reagan Republican. I don't understand why people in Ohio continue to fall for this.

“Moreno benefits from the fact that Donald Trump holds an 11-point lead in the presidential race in Ohio,” the pollster wrote. “This race is a classic test of whether a long-time popular incumbent can overcome the nation's political gravity.”
The polling agency said, “Mr. Brown is supported by 93% of Mr. Harris voters, while Mr. Moreno is currently supported by 83% of Mr. Trump voters, making the Senate race even closer than the presidential race. “There is,” he said.
