Intensified Search for Washington Man After Alleged Murders
The manhunt for Travis Caleb Decker, a 32-year-old suspect linked to the tragic deaths of three young girls, is gaining momentum. Decker reportedly went missing after failing to return the children from a scheduled visit. Washington Governor Bob Ferguson has reactivated the state’s National Guard to assist in the search effort.
Currently, over 100 police officers are actively hunting for Decker, with authorities reportedly receiving more than 500 tips from the public. They are now concentrating on tracking down fugitives in the ongoing investigation. Ferguson noted on X that the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office has requested helicopter support for remote searches.
“As a parent, my heart goes out to their mother and everyone who knew them,” Ferguson expressed. The brutal nature of the girls’ murder—Paityn, 9, Evelyn, 8, and Olivia, 5—has shocked the community. Their bodies were discovered at a Chelan County campsite, with signs indicating they had been suffocated.
Recent surveillance footage and tips continue to emerge, aiding in the efforts to locate Decker. Authorities describe him as a former military member who enjoys outdoor activities, although he had no legal custody of the girls at the time of their deaths.
According to a press release from the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office, despite significant challenges, morale among the command team remains high. They’re hopeful that the public attention on this case will lead to Decker being found quickly. Sheriff Mike Morrison has warned local residents, particularly those in remote cabins, to secure their properties and stay vigilant.
Decker had been limited to scheduled visitations with the children due to a court-ordered parenting plan he did not sign. His ex-wife informed police that he had never failed to return the children before, but she had raised concerns about his mental health.
The investigation has revealed that Decker is familiar with survival tactics, making him a challenging target in dense wilderness areas. He is currently considered dangerous and may or may not be armed. The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office urges any sightings of Decker to be reported immediately to 911.
Authorities are offering a reward of up to $20,000 for information leading to his capture. The community remains on high alert as the search continues.
