Kart Racing Champion Killed in North Carolina Home Invasion
A tragic incident unfolded last month in North Carolina when a national kart racing champion was fatally shot during a home invasion. Tyler Weaver, 25, was killed in front of his fiancée during a break-in that authorities have described as a “targeted” robbery, which occurred around 10 a.m. on October 24.
Weaver’s fiancée, Nevae Quintero, was held at gunpoint but managed to escape and contact the police. Court documents reveal that this terrifying event left her traumatized.
Two suspects, identified as Quites Watkins, 35, and Jakuvias Craig, 26, are now facing charges of first-degree murder. According to the Forest City Police Department, both men have a history of criminal activity and evaded capture for 10 days following the incident.
Watkins, who has a rather violent past, was arrested and is being held without bail. He had been out on bond related to other criminal charges at the time. It’s quite concerning how someone with such a record could be roaming freely, isn’t it?
Craig is being regarded as the alleged ringleader of this tragic event. Interestingly, he was on probation for a firearm-related offense prior to the murder, which raises more questions about how he was able to carry out this crime.
Authorities have not disclosed why Craig specifically targeted Weaver, which adds to the unsettling nature of this case. Craig has a previous conviction for conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon from 2020, and has also been ordered to be held without bail.
Weaver was notably the 2018 national champion for Maxxis Kart Racing North America, and his passing has left a significant impact on the racing community. They expressed profound sadness over his death in a tribute, highlighting his achievements and contributions to the sport.
Adding to the tragedy, sources have revealed that Weaver and Quintero were expecting their first child in April 2026. The community is left grieving, and the investigation remains active. Anyone with information is encouraged to reach out to the Forest City Police.
