The National Museum of the Marine Corps in Quantico, Virginia, has introduced two new galleries in advance of Marine Corps Day.
The “Forward Deployed” and “Afghanistan and Iraq” exhibits help guide visitors through the history of the Marine Corps from the end of the Vietnam War to the present.
A visit to the Constitution reminds us that America is all about “We the People.”
“These galleries explore Marine Corps activities in post-Cold War conflicts, humanitarian missions, and long-term conflicts in the Middle East,” a museum spokesperson told FOX News Digital in an email.

The 20,000-square-foot exhibit features special artifacts used at turning points in U.S. history.
The M198 howitzer that fired the first shot during Operation Desert Storm will be featured along with the F/A-18 Hornet that flew armed combat patrols over Washington, D.C. after 9/11.

Visitors can get a feel for life in the Marine Corps with the USS Shreveport's Marine Corps Berthing Room on display.

“These two new galleries pay tribute to those who served from 1976 to 2021, but especially the 1,514 who made the ultimate sacrifice, including nearly 1,400 in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. We salute our Marines,” said Commander Lt. Gen. Benjamin Watson. the Training and Education Command said in a press release.
The museum offers an immersive experience showcasing Iraqi streetscapes with experiential simulations.

“They are more than just exhibits; they are powerful representations of the best our country has to offer: selfless service and sacrifice,” Watson added.

The Marine Corps celebrates its birthday on November 10, the day the Continental Marine Corps was created during the Revolutionary War.
“As we celebrate the 250th anniversary of our beloved Marine Corps, it is only fitting that the National Museum of the Marine Corps is able to showcase the most recent 50 years of our glorious history,” Watson said.
