Nationwide health alert issued for ground beef over potential E. coli risk

(WTAJ) – A national health warning against Greater Omaha ground beef products that may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7, a specific strain of E. coli known to cause severe intestinal infections in humans. A warning has been issued.

Affected raw ground meat products are manufactured and packaged on March 28, 2024, have a “use by/freeze by” date of April 22, 2024, and have “EST.960A” within the USDA inspection mark. It is listed.

The ground meat was shipped to restaurants and retail stores across the United States, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

FSIS said no recall is required because the affected products are not currently on sale. Instead, the agency issued a health warning in case consumers put ground meat in their freezers.

If you have any of the beef products listed above, FSIS advises against consuming them. Instead, it should be discarded or returned to the place of purchase.

Although there are no confirmed reports of illness associated with this health alert, you should contact your health care provider if you feel unwell after consuming ground meat.

E. coli, a potentially deadly bacteria, can cause dehydration, bloody diarrhea, and abdominal pain.
