NBC News to drop ex-RNC chair Ronna McDaniel after Rachel Maddow, ‘Morning Joe’ revolt

NBC News comes after network stars including MSNBC prime-time headliner Rachel Maddow and “Morning Joe” co-hosts slam the decision to include politicians who support Trump. plans to remove former Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel as a paid contributor.

The network has not made an announcement, but Pac News says an announcement is pending. The Post has reached out to NBC and McDaniel for comment.

Pac News reports that McDaniel is in the process of hiring a lawyer.

Mr. Maddow, MSNBC’s most bankable person, said on Monday’s show that Mr. McDaniel’s hiring was “inexplicable” and called on executives to “reverse their decision.”

“The fact that Mr. McDaniel is an employee of NBC News is puzzling to me,” Maddow said during Monday’s broadcast of his prime-time show.

Maddow went on to accuse McDaniel of “not only attacking us as a journalist, but being part of an ongoing project to dismantle our system of government.”

“You wouldn’t hire a criminal, like a gangster, to work in the DA’s office, right? You wouldn’t hire a pickpocket to work as a TSA screener,” Maddow concluded.

Earlier Monday, MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” co-hosts Joe Scarborough and his wife, Mika Brzezinski, called McDaniel an “anti-democratic election denier” and threatened to invite him back on the show. I swore on the broadcast.
