Netanyahu Responds to Threats from Iran
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently stated that eliminating Ayatollah Ali Khamenei would not intensify tensions but would help “end the conflict” by removing the threat from Iran’s leadership. He drew a parallel between Iran’s supreme leader and “modern Hitler,” suggesting that Tehran’s ambitions reach far beyond Israel.
In a conversation with ABC News, Netanyahu was pressed on whether Israel would consider targeting Khamenei. He emphasized that Israel does not aim to escalate the situation, claiming instead that the intention is to resolve the conflict.
When questioned about reports indicating that former President Donald Trump had rejected Israel’s plans, Netanyahu acknowledged ongoing Israeli operations. “I can’t disclose everything, but we’ve identified their top nuclear scientists,” he mentioned. He described these individuals as part of “Hitler’s nuclear team.”
Netanyahu framed Israel’s military actions as a matter of international security, warning that Iran’s aspirations directly threaten the United States as well.
“Right now, it’s Tel Aviv; tomorrow, it could be New York. I can’t say ‘America is dead,’ but those people chant ‘Death to America.’ What we are doing serves humanity,” he stated.
Amid increasing tensions, Netanyahu asserted that Iran is unwilling to engage in genuine negotiations, labeling their diplomatic gestures as insincere. “They want to continue these fake talks and lie. Our intelligence tells a different story,” he remarked.
Despite the escalating situation, Netanyahu confirmed that Israel would persist with operations aimed at curbing Iran’s nuclear program.
“They aim to develop nuclear arms and amass a significant stockpile of ballistic missiles. While they speak, they are creating existential threats to Israel, and we cannot allow that,” he warned.
When addressing concerns from Republicans and others who oppose U.S. military backing for Israeli attacks, he reiterated the seriousness of the threat. “We’re not just confronting our foes; we’re fighting your enemies too. They chant ‘Death to Israel, Death to America,’ and we are acting accordingly.”
