Netanyahu Said to Be Considering Complete Occupation of Gaza Strip

Netanyahu Considers Full-Scale Occupation of Gaza Strip

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is reportedly contemplating a full occupation of the Gaza Strip during discussions with his ministers, according to multiple reports on Monday.

During these talks, Netanyahu has used the term “Strip Occupation” while outlining future plans for Gaza. One senior official close to him indicated that he is determined to pursue a full occupation. However, there appears to be a notable divide among cabinet members, as Defense Minister Israel Katz is said to remain undecided on the matter, particularly regarding ongoing hostage negotiations.

Earlier on Monday, the Prime Minister’s Office convened the Cabinet, where they were set to discuss the future of Gaza this week.

An official associated with Netanyahu mentioned that military operations would target areas where hostages are being held, suggesting that Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) chief Eir Zamir may need to resign if they disagree with this strategy.

The IDF itself is hesitant about a complete occupation, arguing that it could take years to fully dismantle Hamas. Historically, Israel withdrew from 21 settlements in Gaza between 1967 and 2005, only for Hamas to gain control shortly afterward.

The Prime Minister’s Office has not yet commented on this situation.
