Netflix Comedian Accuses Dave Chappelle of Profiting from Making Transgender People ‘Feel Unsafe’

A female Netflix comedian has attacked fellow stand-up Dave Chappelle, accusing him of profiting from making transgender people “feel unsafe.”

Comedian Michelle Buteau criticized Dave Chappelle in a new Netflix special that began streaming Tuesday. In one passage, she focused on Mr. Chappelle, who refuses to stop making transgender jokes during his stand-up routine, despite widespread pressure from trans activists and mainstream news outlets.

“Dave, that's not funny, that's dangerous,” she said, according to multiple reports. “Make it funny. I can't believe there are people who make millions of dollars making people feel unsafe. Really, that's so wild to me.”

Her comments represent the latest example of the left's attempts to equate speech it doesn't like with actual physical danger in order to censor dissent.

Transgender activists have used this tactic for years, often claiming that they feel “dangerous” when criticized and can even endanger trans people's lives.

Netflix has stood by Mr. Chappelle and rejected demands from activists and some of its own employees to remove his feature on transgender jokes. Chappelle's contract with Netflix is ​​estimated to be worth more than $60 million.
