Ortberg vowed to be close and transparent on the production line, emphasizing the need for the company to deliver on its promises and for its team of 170,000 people to work together.

“I strongly believe that the complexity of our operations requires that I be closer to our production lines and development programs throughout the company,” he wrote in the letter. “In fact, I will be on the factory floor in Renton today to speak with employees and learn about the challenges we must overcome.”
