2024 Assassination Attempt on Trump Detailed in New Book
A new book provides insights into the aftermath of the assassination attempt on President Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, in 2024. The book, titled “2024: How Trump Takes the White House and the Democrats’ Lost America,” is authored by Josh Dorsey, Tyler Pager, and Isaac Arnsdorf and is set for release on July 8th.
During a rally on July 13, 2024, Susie Wills, now Trump’s chief aide, urged those around her to seek shelter as gunfire erupted. As the chaos unfolded, she hurried to find answers. Peering through the tent, she caught sight of Trump, who was visibly injured. In the frantic moments, she assisted in searching for his shoes and lifted her fist in defiance.
The book reveals that law enforcement had been aware of the assailant’s plans for about 90 minutes before the incident occurred.
As the motorcade departed the scene, Wills noted that she could not find Trump’s advisor, Dan Scavino, who was lagging behind, seemingly preoccupied. Upon realizing the convoy was moving without him, she urged him to hurry. Surprisingly, Trump opted against using a stretcher when he arrived at the hospital, reportedly because he didn’t want to be perceived in a vulnerable state.
The tension didn’t ease even when they reached the hospital. Wills, Scavino, and another aide approached Trump’s room only to be cautioned by medical staff.
Trump later recounted to the authors how he felt moments after the shooting: “It was bleeding like a b—. They thought I had four or five bullets inside me.” The vivid imagery hinted at the severity of the situation. However, once aides confirmed he was okay, a sense of relief followed.
Melania Trump encouraged him to retreat to their residence in Bedminster. Interestingly, Trump began receiving unexpected calls from people who usually didn’t reach out to him, including actor Sylvester Stallone, who praised his bravery during the ordeal. Former President Biden also called, and Trump described the conversation as surprisingly positive.
