A New Jersey Democratic lawmaker has introduced a bill that would create a travel advisory that would notify women of restrictive abortion laws in other states they may visit.
The bill, sponsored by state Sen. John Bruzicelli, would require the New Jersey Department of Health and state officials to launch a website listing each state's color code based on how restrictive its abortion laws are. It is said that it is mandatory. New Jersey Spotlight News.
“If you are an individual, a woman, traveling through this country on business, or considering attending a school in Mississippi. [for instance] — It will help you know what medical services are available to you if you need any kind of emergency treatment,” Bursichelli told the magazine.
The color code for the Reproductive Health Travel Advisory is blue, yellow, and red.

Blue means women can exercise normal care and have access to abortion without fear of civil or criminal prosecution, and yellow means abortion restrictions would lead to civil or criminal prosecution. This means that women need to be more careful. Red means access to abortion is extremely limited and women are urged to reconsider traveling due to the potential for medical issues and civil and criminal prosecution.
“Right now, there's not one place where you can say, 'Okay, I have to travel. I have to go to Texas and then move to Tennessee,'” Bursichelli said. “We don't have that information. We can find it, but it's a hodgepodge.”
“As an American woman, you don't have equal rights in all 50 states,” he added. “And when you go somewhere, it's important to know that you have rights that you don't have because the unexpected can happen.”

The proposal comes after the U.S. Supreme Court reversed Roe v. Wade in 2022, returning the power to legislate abortion laws to states.
In response to this ruling, many Republican-controlled states have enacted laws restricting access to abortion, with some exceptions such as medical emergencies, while some Democratic-controlled states have Approved advanced protection for access to.
“It's hard to imagine that we'll be talking about this in America in 2024,” Bursichelli said. “The fact that we even have to think about doing this just speaks volumes about where we are at the moment.”

New Jersey expands access to abortion and enacts legal protections for abortion as a fundamental right, ruling that “a woman's fundamental right to control her body and destiny” is not included in the state constitution. The court ruled that it would be protected. Reproductive Rights Center.
The state also welcomes women traveling from other states for abortions, as abortions are prohibited in the state. Moreover, the Garden State protects their extradition after the procedure.
