New poll has Trump surging ahead of Harris in key battleground state

A new poll shows former President Donald Trump's approval rating is soaring in key battleground states.

According to an Emerson College Poll/The Hill survey, Trump victory In Georgia, he has 49.8% support, while Democratic candidate Kamala Harris has only 47.2%.

The majority of respondents said they disapproved. [of] President Joe Biden.

According to the same poll, Harris was leading Trump by 1 percentage point as of the end of August, meaning that Trump's approval rating had risen by 3 percentage points in about three weeks.

Polls show a majority of Georgians cite the economy as their top concern heading into the election, and while many respondents say they are dissatisfied with the job President Joe Biden (Democrat) is doing, far more say they approve of the job Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (Republican) is doing.

The dispute between Trump and Harris may have been a factor in the swing, as well as a second assassination attempt on Trump's golf course in Florida.

If the Electoral College vote count is close, as most polls suggest, the battleground states' elections will likely determine the outcome of the presidential election.

Biden won Georgia's electoral votes by a slim margin of about 11,700 votes in 2020, which prompted Trump's infamous phone call to Georgia's secretary of state. Former President Biden faces election fraud charges in Georgia, but some charges were dropped last week for lack of standing to prosecute.
