New pro-Trump organization headed by Sean Spicer aims at important voter group for the 2026 midterms

New Pro-Trump Initiative for Seniors Launched

A new initiative, called Seniors Matter for America (SMFA), has been launched by former White House press secretary Sean Spicer. This initiative focuses on advocating for the nation’s senior citizens, as Spicer believes their support is essential for Republican success in the upcoming 2026 midterm elections.

In a recent statement, Spicer emphasized the importance of older voters in shaping the outcome of the elections. He mentioned that last November, Trump pledged to safeguard Social Security, Medicare, and lower drug costs—promises that he feels Trump is working vigorously to fulfill. “Our coalition is dedicated to keeping these critical issues front-of-mind as Trump pushes for affordable policies that prioritize seniors,” he remarked.

Focus on Policies for Seniors

Looking ahead to November, SMFA aims to address policies that would protect benefits for seniors, promote affordable living, and ensure access to long-term healthcare. Plans include establishing a permanent tax credit for seniors, reducing prescription drug prices, and eliminating taxes on Social Security income.

The American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) noted that voters aged 50 and above significantly supported Donald Trump over Kamala Harris in the previous election, with only a slight margin of about 5 percentage points. According to the AARP, this age demographic constitutes the majority of the electorate—although figures can vary depending on the source. Pew Research indicated that they comprised 56% of voters.

Concerns Over Social Security and Medicare

While Trump has vowed to protect these crucial programs, critics often voice concerns, pointing to potential risks arising from layoffs and office consolidations. Moreover, Trump’s spending habits and his “One Big Beautiful Bill” have raised alarms about possible cuts to Medicare, should Congress fail to intervene. However, there are provisions in this act encouraging that around 90% of Social Security beneficiaries would not pay federal income taxes on their benefits.

Overall, it appears that SMFA is striving to ensure that every senior citizen feels the benefits of proposed policies as the midterm elections draw nearer.
