Harris' honeymoon period came to an end after a new poll released Monday showed Trump holding steady leads in key battleground states with about six weeks to go until the November election.

According to The New York Times/Siena College Polls conducted since September 1stst Until 21stTrump is currently leading in Arizona, Georgia and North Carolina, reversing Harris' narrow leads in those states.
If these polls are correct, winning these three battleground states would give Trump 262 electoral votes, meaning he only needs to win one more key battleground state – Michigan, Pennsylvania or Wisconsin – to win the election.
Trump was able to maintain a five-point lead over Vice President Kamala Harris among Arizona voters, winning 50% to Harris's 45%, a four-point lead among Georgia voters, winning 49% to Harris' 45%, and a two-point lead among North Carolina voters, winning 49% to Harris' 47%.
The flip in Arizona was particularly surprising, representing a 10 percentage point change from a 5-point lead for Harris to a 5-point lead for Trump.
The polls point to a general trend of Harris losing support in key battleground states as the artificial support she gained from the Democratic establishment at last month's Democratic National Convention begins to fade.
New polling numbers show that Trump is beginning to regain momentum after the initial approval rating that Harris garnered from Democratic voters following Biden's disastrous loss. Winning North Carolina and Georgia are especially important for the Trump campaign, The New York Times the pollster noted.
With her approval rating falling, Harris has repeatedly called for a second debate, but Trump has rejected it, saying it's too late with voting already underway.
Harris said Saturday that she accepted a CNN invitation to debate Trump because Trump “seems to be looking for an excuse” to avoid a second debate.
“I have accepted an invitation to debate in October, but my opponent seems to be looking for an excuse to avoid it when he should have,” she said. “He should accept it, because I feel very strongly that he owes it to the American people, to the American voters, to meet again before Election Day.”
Trump responded to calls for a second debate by arguing that he has already had two with Biden and Harris.
“I've already had two debates and, you know, they were good. But to have a third one, you know, it's way too late to have a third debate because you've already voted,” Trump added.
